Earning will come from Telegram; Advertising Revenue

Telegram and the platform will launch in March to expand monetization opportunities for channel owners in nearly 100 countries.

Telegram CEO and founder Pavel Durov has unveiled plans for the company's upcoming ad revenue platform, which will launch next month. This platform will allow channel owners on Telegram to monetize their content. This rewards system will involve the use of TonCoin (cryptocurrency) on the TON blockchain, whereby channel owners will earn 50% of the revenue from advertisements displayed on their channels.

Earning opportunities will increase

Telegram channels serve as a platform to broadcast public messages to a large audience. Durov, the company's CEO at the time, said that despite receiving more than a trillion views per month through broadcast channels on Telegram, Telegram currently earns only a fraction, i.e. about 10%, through advertising promotion tools. He said Telegram and the March rollout of the platform will increase revenue opportunities for channel owners in nearly 100 countries. It also highlighted that this revenue will be an important step towards content monetization in the Telegram ecosystem.

use of cryptocurrency

Although no details are known regarding the revenue-sharing criteria, the company has assured users of upcoming details. He added that the company is committed to ensuring fast and secure ad payments and withdrawals by leveraging only the TON blockchain for these transactions. On Fragment, ad sales for Telegram users and revenue sharing with channel owners will be facilitated through Toncoins. In the process, content creators can convert their Tokens into traditional currency or reinvest them in channel promotion and development efforts.

positive feedback

The advertising platform's announcement caused a surge in the value of the TON token, which immediately surged by nearly 40% to more than $2.92. This increase reflects the positive market response to Telegram's new efforts.

Telegram will be equal to the social platform

Telegram's entry into the advertising revenue sector has now put it at par with other major social media platforms. Platforms like YouTube, and X (formerly Twitter) also generate revenue from advertising. YouTube creators receive 55% of ad revenue, while X's revenue-sharing plan begins in July 2023. Meta, (Facebook's parent company) is experimenting with a new payment method to monetize the creation of Reels on ads.

With over 800 million monthly member users globally, Telegram's entry into the advertising revenue sector marks a milestone in the platform's growth.
